Now What? - Applying the Sermon to Life ("Stewarding Grace Given" - 1 Peter 4:1-11)

Hello Family,

As stewards of grace that has been given to us, let’s continue to apply the Scriptures and the message that we heard on Sunday.  If you missed the message, please listen to it online and enjoy engaging your gospel community in discussion this week.

Here are a few questions to help you go deeper:

For the Kids/Students

1.  What was your one take-away from the message on Sunday?  Why is this idea or point so significant to you?

2.  Do you believe that God has been gracious to you?  If so, how?  If not, why?

3.  If we trust in the Holy Spirit’s power to help us follow Christ’s example of enduring in hard times, how do you think that would impact our attitude(s)?

4.  What does it mean to live for the will of God?  Why is it such a temptation to give in to our fleshly passions and desires?

5.  What do you think would happen to you socially at school or among your neighborhood friends, if you lived your life to obey God’s will as opposed to obeying your flesh and things of the world?

6.  If you are a believer, do you think you have an idea of what your spiritual gift is?  If so, how are you using it within the church?  Do you want to use it?

For the Adults

1.  How did the Spirit of God minister to your heart through the Scriptures and the message?

2.  How is God challenging what you believe about Him (or grace) after hearing the message?

3.  It’s so easy to lose hope in seasons of hard times and suffering.  How is God growing you in following His example of suffering and His will during those times?  Any particular examples?

4.  When we lose hope, it’s very tempting to revert to obeying our fleshly passions as opposed to trusting in His sovereign will.  Why does understanding who we are and whose we are diminish that temptation (chapters 1-3)?

5.  Do you ever think about the fact that Christ can return at any moment?  Why is that such a hard truth to move us into even more intentionally stewarding this life and the grace that has been given?

6.  How can God stretch us to love one another deeper?  How can we grow in our love more by inviting and loving strangers well (hospitality) in our GC?

7.  How are you stewarding your spiritual gifts?  How would you like God to get glory through you seeking to use your gift(s) to build up the church?

8.  How is God calling you to live differently in light of this message and text of Scripture?

Praying for you this week as the Spirit works in you.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Bond
