Now What? - Applying the Sermon to Life ("Sanctified Disruptions" - Matthew 1:18-25)

Hello Family,

I’m sure that by now, you have had a few disruptions to your plans this week.  Rest assured that those disruptions can turn out for your good and God’s glory.  May your heart be captivated by His grace even when life doesn’t make sense or something happens that you think will cause you challenges and pain.

Let’s apply God’s Word and message to our hearts this week as we head into this weekend.

For the Kids/Students

1.  Do you find yourself loving and appreciating Jesus more this Christmas season compared to the past?  If so, why?  If not, why?

2.  Have you experienced any disruptions to your plans for this week?  What happens in you when something disrupts what you thought would take place?  What did you learn from the text as it relates to disruptions and Jesus?

3.  Does God speak to you?  If so, how?  If not, why?  Why would God not speak to his children?

4.  Did you know that disruptions can lead to you being transformed into Christ’s likeness?  Do you believe that?  What does that mean?

For the Adults

1.  How did the Holy Spirit use God’s Word and message to minister to your heart and soul?

2.  What happens in you when things disrupt your plans and life?

3.  How does God relate to you when your plans are interrupted?  How would you like to relate to God during those times?  What are your sinful tendencies that hinder you from resting in God’s sovereignty during those times?

4.  How do you help your heart believe that disruptions can turn out for your good?  How can we pray for you right now to help your heart believe that?

5.  Mary and Joseph’s disruption in their plans changed the world and has led to our salvation.  In the midst of disruptions, it’s painful, confusing, frustrating and scary but what if we trusted God to show us His goodness and salvation in all of that?  God never stops being good toward His children.  How can we help your heart respond to this truth?

6.  God is with us (those who have been saved by Him).  His common grace pours over those who don’t belong to Him.  Knowing that God is with us, how would you like to respond to life when it throws you curve balls in 2018?

7.  What have you learned about yourself and God in 2017?  What would you like God to do in you in 2018?

8.  Who needs to hear this message? Please send it to them.

Enjoy your time together in your GC and throughout the holiday season.
